Dr Louise Carey is the Managing Director of Queensland Cardiovascular Group and the Director in charge of non-invasive testing services. Under her direction, QCG has become a well-recognised and respected practice for echocardiography. Dr Carey's clinical expertise include echocardiography, stress echocardiography, transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, coronary angiography and clinical cardiology.
Dr Carey graduated with first class honours from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1985. She holds Fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology and General Medicine, and also holds a Fellowship with the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. She underwent her basic medical training at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, and advanced cardiology training at the Prince Charles Hospital, with her echocardiography training in Dr Daryl Burstow's renowned echo laboratory. Dr Carey then spent two years in the United States at the University of Michigan Medical Centre in Ann Arbour, Michigan, pursuing further studies in echocardiography. She joined Queensland Cardiovascular Group in 1995.
Dr Carey, in conjunction with Dr Malcolm Davison, Dr John Rivers and Dr Elisabeth Donnelly, has established a state of the art, non-invasive cardiology testing service including transthoracic echocardiography, exercise stress echocardiography, dobutamine stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, intra-operative echocardiography, exercise stress ECG (stress test), and holter monitoring at four major hospitals in Brisbane.
