Imaging Cardiologist
Dr Przemek Palka is a Director of the Queensland Cardiovascular Group, and a Senior Staff Specialist at Mater Adult Public Hospital. He is a general cardiologist with special interests in coronary angiography, echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography and exercise stress echocardiography. Dr Palka is internationally recognised for his research in heart failure patients with cardiomyopathies.
Dr Palka is a graduate of the Wroclaw Medical School in Poland. He obtained a Medical Doctorate in Cardiology during postgraduate training, and was subsequently awarded a Research Fellowship of the European Society of Cardiology at the Western General Hospital and University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. His research was carried out across other prestigious international cardiology centres, including the Hammersmith Hospital in London. He was a pioneer in developing a new echocardiographic technique, Doppler Tissue Imaging. His clinical research was issued in over 40 publications in peer review journals, including Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Heart, European Heart Journal, and Journal of the American Society of Cardiology.
During his research career, Dr Palka was awarded a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, and an Associate Professor of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Drawing from his clinical and research expertise, he undertook a Fellowship at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane, and is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
